If water is coming through in to your home we suggest that you turn off your main switch to make it safe and then call a qualified tradesperson to rectify the issue of where the water is coming in.
If you find that the water has tripped the RCD, don’t keep trying to reset it. Leave it off and call a qualified tradesperson to rectify the cause of the water ingress.
If you find your Electric Hotwater system leaking the first thing you should do is turn of the associated breaker at your switchboard. Then try and find the isolation tap to your hotwater system. Turn the tap clockwise to isolate. If this fails and the water is causing damage. Your property will have an isolation tap for all of the water. Locate this and isolate the water from there. If the above fails we recommend you call a plumber immediately.

We do not service Air Conditioners. You will need a refrigeration mechanic to resolve the issue.
But here is some helpful hints.
If your air conditioner is faulty or causing your power to trip, giving off smoke etc. You can do the following till a refrigeration mechanic can attend.
- Turn of the breaker marked AC
- The AC may have an isolater next to the unit. Please turn this off.
- Your particular unit may have a plug on it. Please unplug the unit.
Do the above then contact a Refrigeration Mechanic.

Lighting
Night lights may stop working for a couple of reasons. First, check if the light bulb has burnt out and replace it if necessary. If the bulb is fine, the issue could be with the outlet. Test the outlet by plugging in another device to ensure it is functioning properly. If neither is the problem, it may be time to consult a licensed electrician to inspect your system for potential wiring or circuit issues.
Security lights rely on several components to function effectively. If your security lights aren’t turning on:
- Check if the bulb is burned out, needing replacement.
- Inspect the power supply to ensure the lights are receiving electricity.
- Test the sensor functionality; it could be faulty or poorly positioned.
Sensor lights activate using motion or light detection. Motion sensors detect movement within range, while light sensors trigger the light as ambient conditions darken. Their effectiveness depends on proper sensitivity settings and positioning to detect movement accurately. If adjustments don’t improve their operation, it might be necessary to recalibrate or replace the sensor with professional assistance.
Regular maintenance and inspections are key to ensuring the longevity of your lighting systems. This includes routinely checking bulbs, cleaning sensors, and verifying power connections. Hiring a qualified electrician for periodic safety inspections also helps to identify and address potential issues to keep your lighting systems efficient and reliable.

Rental Requirements
From 1 July 1997 the installation of mains powered smoke alarms became mandatory for all new residential buildings (or residential building extensions) within Western Australia.
Since 1 October 2009, all existing residential buildings must have mains powered smoke alarms installed before being sold, rented or hired.
Smoke alarms must:
- Be installed according to the Building Code of Australia requirements.
- Meet Australian Standards 3786.
- Be permanently connected to the building’s mains power supply.
Since 1 May 2015, new homes must have interconnected smoke alarms.
For more information, check Smoke alarms and the law.
RCD stands for “Residual Current Device,” which protects against electric shocks and prevents electrical fires. Australian standards require the installation of RCDs (sometimes referred to as safety switches) in residential and commercial properties. These devices monitor electrical current flow and shut off power instantly if a fault is detected. Regular maintenance and testing of your RCDs is essential to ensure they function reliably. Contact us to arrange professional installation or compliance testing for peace of mind.
